Lok Adalat Case Management System — MPSL (CESC Ltd.)

Innovation / System Development

CESC Ltd. (MPSL), Malegaon  |  2023–Present

Challenge

MPSL faced a massive backlog of electricity-related consumer disputes and defaulter cases requiring legal resolution through Lok Adalat. Managing hundreds of cases manually was chaotic, error-prone, and extremely time-consuming.

Action

Conceptualized, designed, and developed an end-to-end Lok Adalat Case Management System — automating consumer data collation, case categorization, documentation preparation, and hearing scheduling into a structured, auditable workflow.

Result

The system enabled MPSL to systematically handle and settle approximately 500 electricity dispute cases per day, drastically reducing case backlog and improving revenue recovery through faster consumer dispute resolution.

Meter Data Analysis for Theft & Doubtful Consumer Detection

Technical Mastery

CESC Ltd. (MPSL) / BSES Yamuna  |  2021–Present

Challenge

Identifying electricity theft and doubtful consumer patterns across both three-phase commercial/industrial connections and single-phase residential consumers requires deep analytical expertise. Traditional visual site inspections alone often fail to reveal sophisticated electronic tampering, illegal bypasses, neutral disturbances, or phase manipulation.

Action

Mastered comprehensive meter data diagnostics across all consumer categories — extracting and analyzing MRI (Meter Reading Instrument) data, load survey reports, tamper event logs, current/voltage imbalances, phase reversals, neutral bypass, and abnormal consumption trends for both three-phase and single-phase meters to detect concealed energy theft.

Result

Successfully detected and booked numerous doubtful consumer cases and high-value power thefts across both 3-phase and 1-phase networks, driving targeted enforcement raids (UUE/DAE under EA-2003 Sections 126 & 135), meter replacements, tamper sealing, and substantial revenue recovery for the utility.

Targeted Area Identification & MU Loss Determination

Analytics & Strategy

BSES Yamuna / MPSL (CESC Ltd.)  |  2019–Present

Challenge

Distribution companies suffer widespread MU (Million Unit) losses across large networks. Without precise geographic and consumer-level targeting, enforcement resources are wasted on low-impact areas.

Action

Developed a systematic methodology: energy audit at DT level → MRI data analysis → feeder-wise loss computation → consumer profiling → hotspot mapping → targeted enforcement planning. This created a data-driven enforcement calendar for maximum impact.

Result

Enabled precise identification of high-loss DTs and feeders, optimizing enforcement team deployment, achieving measurable AT&C loss reduction, and improving revenue realization through targeted action rather than blanket operations.

AT&C Loss Reduction — Mass Enforcement & DT Cleaning Drives

Loss Control

BSES Yamuna (Ghonda SD) & MPSL (CESC Ltd.)  |  2015–Present

Challenge

High AT&C losses in designated distribution zones due to direct theft, meter bypass, illegal connections, and unauthorized use of electricity (UUE/DAE) causing significant revenue loss to the utility.

Action

Spearheaded aggressive enforcement raids (with and without police), DT cleaning activities, mass meter replacements, network sanitization, tampered meter identification using MRI data, and new service connection drives for non-metered consumers in high-loss areas.

Result

Achieved measurable reductions in distribution-level AT&C losses, significantly improved revenue realization, reduced number of unmetered consumers, and improved overall grid integrity across operational zones.

Rapid HT Breakdown Restoration — 1-Hour Supply Restoration Target

Operations Excellence

BSES (Chandni Chowk Division)  |  2019–2021

Challenge

Extended 11kV HT breakdown outage times were affecting ~65,000+ consumers in dense urban areas including VIPs and government offices, causing high consumer dissatisfaction and escalations.

Action

Led and trained rapid-response emergency breakdown teams. Streamlined fault dispatch, RMU/LTACB operations, feeder relay troubleshooting, and transformer maintenance protocols. Established a structured emergency response procedure for all major faults.

Result

Consistently achieved supply restoration within a strict 1-hour window for 11kV HT breakdowns, drastically reducing consumer complaints, improving VIP and institutional consumer satisfaction, and strengthening grid operational reliability.
